However looking at the election thru a narrow gaze namely economics it is clear neither candidate and I believe Krugman stated this yesterday has a clear plan for recovery: jobs. Obamas five pt. plan is really a suggestion that if you can’t afford a four year degree go get a two year one because the federal government is expanding its role in financing your future. There is however no shortage of degrees. Romney’s appeal to reducing taxes in the marginal base is an appeal to people who have no clear idea about math or taxes or the time frame such a plan would take. I think Romney must be thinking his victory will open the flood gates to hedge funds from the corporate coffers. As much as Obama talks highway construction his administration was unable to change the minds of congress to spend more. I would have thought his advisers would have choked Romney on the rebuilding of the Afghan nations and the cost in lives to American soldiers. The pity to send middle age men and women there to run the infrastructure for communications combat runs afoul of American goals. There was not then nor now any chance for democracy in Sununu’s Lebanon or Karzai’s Afghanistan. Of course S. hit below the belt. Why shy away from saying his intent was not clear? Speak American? That was a see thru veil. If I were Axelrod I would have pounded Romney’s ventures in the world of high finance and his particular vision of money making. For many Americans they wouldn’t understand that unless it was explained in terms of the movie “Other People’s Money”. That being said the winner of OH takes the prize. Now simple logic states the obvious but women indulged by the clerics of America’s major religions all their lives and inculcated in the ways of obedience will not find that tragic nor would they have cognizant knowledge of the ramifications for themselves were R. to be in the WH for other than to pay his tax bill on public TV. It’s not funny. It’s tragic that this country is divided not merely by wealth and race and money but by education so wide so deep that no political adversary of rationalism has to ever speak the truth.
