It's a far cry from a bad night which can be reversed to a lack of leadership over the next term unless the writer is suggesting the fallout is a terminal illness.

The only thoughts I had were two fold. Prior to debates the line was act presidential. One of course expects the adversary who leaned on Koch and Trump and fracking and Keystone who at once wants to deregulate to also calculate that putting with a driver to overhaul the TBTF philosophy can get by. Now one has to assume watchers of the first debate also listened to their favorite candidate's convention acceptance speech. So why trivialize tonight he thought I presume. But more important don't counter punch. When someone is aggressively lying and exaggerating and trying to put false prophets in your head you balance yourself and step aside. Romney wanted nothing more than to have a left thrown at him. He wanted to land a haymaker so bad that Obama could smell his perspiration from twenty feet. It wasn't disdain alone. It was stinky poo. Kids leave it to your father to get rid of this guy at the door. He's peddling some smelly antidote to himself. If that isn't self evident why bother. So I'll tell you what we did again. It won't be on the test so don't write it down. If you have money and want to put it in Bain go ahead. Isn't that the election. If you have five million and want it in Bain put your finger on the box marked Romney. If you want Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Compensation, Labor Relations Boards, NASA, NIH, FDA, Social Security, FDIC, FNMA, NPR, The Bird, FHA and so forth than you know what to do. If you still believe you'll get a break from a hedge fund manager who parks his money in Swiss accounts than there's nothing more to say.

And finally while I don't believe Romney made any surprise tactical moves which Axelrod didn't deem obvious Obama wasn't contrary to popular opinion polls blind to the avalanche of misguided notions. He was in the style of Ali letting Foreman punch himself out. Now it's time for the second round to shine as Obama gives Romney the Bird.
