Actually, Bobo's writing is a classic example of whipping a strawman. None of the mainstream Dems, not Obama, not E Warren, not Kaine, none of them are attacking entrepreneurs! All they are saying is that taxes should be paid by those who can afford to pay. That's it. Nothing more. How bad is that?

My grandfathers came here to escape Russian totalitarianism. To that end both became citizens. One fought in the Spanish American War and saw duty in Cuba, Philippine Islands, Central America. He served domestically in WV at a weapons depot and for well known individuals who needed the experience of a man who could let us say handle himself in all circumstances. We are proud of him. He did what he did. My other grandfather never learned English. But he owned his own business, and partnered in real estate to end up owning apartment buildings. He also saw his good fortune get run over by the Crash. So it goes.

What they did and became of them was their lot. But primarily like millions of other immigrants who came through Ellis Island they were getting away from intolerable circumstances. Romney's father evidently came here to go on welfare and then turn the tide by becoming fabulously successful. Is not it humorous he was born in Mexico and started his life here on relief according to archive interviews with his wife. Most of us would say on the face of it he did well.

What rubs many middle Americans and those of the lower and perhaps upper classes is Romney's notion that we owe him something. I think a child born to wealth like him and his immediate predecessor Bush the son of rich man doesn't earn one respect and they never got any because they are duds. They might as well be CK models. Just hang a suit on them. It's empty inside. I think we recognize there's no meat on him. He's vacant.

What is most horrifying is he would take and take and take and leave nothing for the rest of us. Education especially well written compositions and scientific programming and research are in need of more attention. You can not continuously import brains and expect your own to improve. Romney stands for oil. Steel. Caterpillar. 3M. He is Schlumberger, Exxon, National Oil Varco, Chesapeake Energy, Florida L&P, Chase and Morgan. Fine. We need them for now. But they're by and large irresponsible. As is he.

Reagan relied on the white back lash. What will Obama rely on?
